ZooWhiz Age Floors allow you to restrict access to activities that are too easy for a child. The Age Floors set a minimum level for maths, word skills and reading activities that can be attempted by a child. The Age Floor is automatically offset to 1 year below the child’s nominated age. Teachers and parents can adjust the Age Floor offset above and below the child’s nominated age to accommodate a child’s particular learning needs. Using the controls in their FREE Management account they can independently adjust the offset for maths, reading and word skills.

If you have not first added the Age Floor settings for the child then the first time a child signs in after we release the Age Floor the child will be asked for their age as at that day. This age will be recorded in ZooWhiz but may be edited by the parent or teacher through their respective FREE Management Accounts. If a child attempts activities that are below their Age Floor they will encounter a message explaining why they cannot access these activities and encouraging them to ask their parent or teacher to vary it.

New ZooWhiz child accounts created by parents and teachers will now allow parents and teachers to nominate the child’s age as part of the creation process. Once created the Age Floor can be adjusted by following the instructions above.
Accounts created by the importation of a CSV file allow for a year of birth field. Once created the Age Floor can be adjusted by following the instructions above.
